Paul Armishaw April 13th 2014 - Stillpoint Communities

[Ed.  Brenda Hogg and I have been working with Paul Armishaw to multiply Stillpoint beyond Cottesloe beach. I’d like to acknowledge and honour the St Philip’s Stillpoint teams who cared for the vulnerable on Sunday nights for three summers in a row. While Cottesloe’s need of ‘a mantle or safety’ for young people has decreased, the need in other suburbs is now being met by Paul Armishaw and Stillpoint Communities, as follows.]Over the last several weeks Stillpoint has commenced providing a range of youth outreach and engagement services within the Shire of Kalamunda. While the transition from beachfront mission to a not-for-profit organisation has seen an evolution in Stillpoint’s identity, its heart and posture remain unchanged. Central to the work Stillpoint undertakes is being able to answer the following questions:

  • Are we being a mantle of safety?
  • Are we a source of good news?
  • Are we remaining low weight/low maintenance?
  • Are we open, accountable and transparent?

I want to express my gratitude to the community of St Phil’s for both its role in the genesis of Stillpoint and also the practical provision of the spare t-shirts and banner. At this stage we rely on God’s grace and the assistance of friends, family and community to keep Stillpoint moving forward. In May, Stillpoint will be launching a youth drop-in space in Forrestfield as a part of our work with the local Council. We are also hoping to commence some work in Fremantle and to gradually increase Stillpoint’s impact over the coming months. As much as at its inception, Stillpoint remains a small, strategic and effective vehicle for providing support where it is most needed.Grace and Peace,Paul Armishaw, Stillpoint Communities
