GO with Change...
Change is hard and going is never easy, yet crucial to the advancing gospel is the “Go”.God asked Abraham to leave country, home and family to begin this journey of blessing the nations. So, with a crazy promise and faith in a voice, he went.As I write this, worry, anxiety, and fear are lingering, waiting for the moment I let my guard down and pay attention to the doubt, “Did God really say...?” I'm hanging on for dear life to the word that God has called me to “Go” and the promise that as I seek His kingdom and righteousness, He will take care of me. In fact, I'm sitting typing this fully-clothed, with a full stomach and a roof over my head. He has never failed me and to my delight, He doesn't plan on starting. It's so easy to get caught up in the worries of this life and forget the realities and promises of His Word. I don't walk into a building during a storm and worry that it will fall (even if it is built on sand like most are in Perth). Why is it that when confronted with a 'storm of life' Christians lose confidence in the Word that holds all things together?A crucial journey of every relationship is learning to trust. Jesus initiates perpetual opportunities to jump because He always wants to give us more confidence in himself. In four short weeks, I will be 2500km away in the Kimberley region of northern WA working among the Aboriginal community of Looma during their school holidays. Revival has taken place in a neighboring community, Noonkanbah, where 40 indigenous have recently given their hearts to God.The next leg is a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, where we will work with a ministry called At Risk Kids (ARK) to help by teaching English and music to orphan children – as well as play the favourite game within the organisation...Rugby!Finally, we're heading to the communist nation of Vietnam. Being wise as serpents, our aim is to prayerfully crack this place open by simply being salt and light among people there. A recent team had the great privilege of sharing the Gospel with a Buddhist monk and being a part of the journey of him receiving Jesus. Much of the work is done very quietly because the Vietnamese Christians are heavily persecuted. Nevertheless, God is moving.Your prayers are greatly desired and welcomed because we truly stand on them. Added to the prayers, the team and I are still trusting for the provision of finance in order for us to reach these people. If you would like to know details of how to help or specific prayer requests, please let me know.My heart’s desire is to be surrounded by the nations and to answer Jesus’ question, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” with a resounding “YES!”Blessings,David Baker
