Prayer for the Worldwide Church
Jesus calls his followers to Love God and to Love others (Matthew 22:37-40) and one of his final commands before his crucifixion was for his followers to Love one another (John 13:34). We are responding in obedience (Love God) when we turn our minds and our hearts to the situation of the body of Christ worldwide (Love one another). In over 50 countries of the world Christians find it is extremely dangerous or at least a significant disadvantage in life to be followers of Jesus.
Our small group gathers once a month to pray with and learn about the current situation of other Christians around the world. In between meetings, we also personally pray for our persecuted family using resources provided by organisations such as Open Doors, Barnabus Fund and Voice of the Martyrs.
We also hold several ‘events’ in the year which aim to increase awareness of the situation of our persecuted family in Christ and/or to raise funds to help provide Bibles and other discipleship materials, trauma counselling, emergency relief, advocacy, vocational and other training, and other needs. Specifically we run “Walk to Water” in September and lead the “International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church” in November.
We meet in Mosman Park on the first Thursday of every month. You are very welcome to join us. Please contact Sally on 0409 110 961 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
