Some people seem to be naturally thankful. I don’t mean that bowing and scraping thankfulness that leaves you feeling slimed and at risk somehow. I mean genuine open faced thankfulness – I’m thinking of people in our church who are like this, I can’t name them but if I did and you knew them you’d go, “yeah they are like that!”
The bible too is filled with the thankful and the thankless. There’s no apparent formula, some people chose to be thankful and others find it much harder. I often find people in the most shattering of circumstances are sometimes the most thankful – at least they’re the ones I remember. Isaiah 43 talks about God being enthroned on the praises of his people-thankfulness seems to unlock something in Gods world. Give me a nudge next time I’m being thankless, would you.
